Once upon a time, before trail running, before Parkour, we hiked up various mountains in South Africa and ran down like crazy people… we called it Extreme Jogging. This blog is a tribute to the good old days, friends & family, my Creator and everybody that love running in nature!
Extremeness: Small section of technical single track with a headlamp...
Location: Coetzenburg, Stellenbosch, South Africa
Joggers: Deryck Nel, Dirk van der Merwe & me
This morning we started in darkness (it was almost dark moon) and there was a chill in the air. It was also the perfect opportunity to test my birthday present to myself... the Petzl Tikka XP2 head lamp. We started with some smooth gravel road and then headed up bitterbult (bitter hill). We turned onto the contour gravel road heading towards the Coetzenburg Cross and then turned upwards to jog the upper contour route back to bitterbult. Finally, we cranked up the pace to finish in the Coetzenburg parking lot.
