Paradyskloof Swamp- Trail Run
Our trail grading: ORANGE 6A
Distance: 6.5km
Extremeness: Technical single track downhill
Location: Paradyskloof, Stellenbosch, South Africa
Joggers: Deryck Nel & me
This afternoon, after half the extreme joggers bailed, Deryck and I decided to do our regular Paradyskloof route clock-wise. We started towards the swamp but took a small escape route around it and headed up our favourite Paradyskloof single track. It was much tougher jogging uphill, of course, and the sun also did not hold back… bringing on the heat! We then jogged all the way up to the contour path and followed it back towards the abandoned Paradyskloof house. At some stage our route took a turn in a wrong direction and we decided to do a small pine plantation scramble Southwards until we found the single track we were looking for. The single track downwards towards the house is the most technical (and one if the most awesome) single tracks in Paradyskloof. There is a lot of variation, ups & downs and loose rocks & gravel… nice to pick up the jogging pace, easy to break a leg. We took it all the way down to the gate.
