Once upon a time, before trail running, before Parkour, we hiked up various mountains in South Africa and ran down like crazy people… we called it Extreme Jogging. This blog is a tribute to the good old days, friends & family, my Creator and everybody that love running in nature!
This was the first extreme jog (or any jog) in two weeks for me... (the pest has subsided). I was hungry for some Jonkers single track and we decided to do the "super single" with the extended 4th section of the Canary trail. We started with the first section of the "peace-full" single track which becomes very steep by section 3. We then jogged past the Canary route and realised that we have to bundu bash upwards to keep our route short. After scrambling upwards though the pine forest we reached the upper contour route. We headed in the direction of Canary section 4 and I was surprised to see that they have extended the Canary even further to section 5... awesome! We took a chilled jog from section 4 to 2 and then realized that they "killed" section 1... the single track was littered with chopped-off trees. Sad to say, we could not find the track and had to bundu bash again to connect to the Jonkers loop.
