Jonkers Elliote Tedea Trail Run

Our trail grading: ORANGE 3A
Distance: 11km
Extremeness: A single track or two
Location: Jonkershoek, Stellenbosch, South Africa
Joggers: Deryck Nel & me

It was raining when we started this jog at the Jonkershoek gate. Not surprisingly, the bad weather did not really scare away anyone and we jogged past another group of keen trail runners lead by Ferdi Dick and several mountain bikers with very dirty shirts. We only had an hour so decided to start with the Western side of the Jonkers loop. On the way back we decided to try out the single track we spotted during our trail run last Saturday. I think this single track is the lowest section of the Elliote route, but it is not marked as such. It zig-zags "inside" the Jonkers loop and connects to the gravel road on the Eastern side a few hundred meters before the big dam. After the dam we took another single track I have never jogged... the Tedea single track. What an enjoyable way to end our Jonkers loop. I will have difficulty running past the turnoff to Tedea in future!

It is I...
